Remember, all child models do not have to be adorably cute or utterly glamorous. There is another category of model, the Alternative model, which your child might fall into. Children with unusual features, or a unique look may be just what a certain agency might be looking for.  

Modelling for a child may be a good way to get experience in front of cameras, and lead the child into acting, dancing, or mime artistry. Though models aren’t considered actors, models have to express certain feelings and emotions to the camera or audience and that could be considered a form of acting.

Modelling may lead the child into pursuing other forms of public performance such as appearing in movies or plays.  

Despite the glamour of being considered a model, unfortunately according to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics the median wage for models was only $11.22 per hour in 2006. MarketWatch has listed modeling as one of the ten worst jobs in America.
